BENEFITS

As an employee of the Dane County Sheriff's Office your benefits will include:

HEALTH INSURANCE

  • HMO plan within Dean Network Point of Service Plan (POS)
    • Can go outside of the Dean network.
  • Employee pays 25% of the difference in cost between the HMO and POS single or family premiums. (Premiums pro-rated for part-time positions, i.e. Work 50%, pay 50% of the premium. Part time employee would pay this plus cost above)

DENTAL INSURANCE

Premiums paid by County (pro-rated for part time positions, i.e. Work 50%, pay 50% of premium)

VISION INSURANCE

Premium paid by Employee.

LIFE INSURANCE

Premium paid by Employee based on salary and age.

RETIREMENT

  • Total contribution is 13% of gross salary.
  • Employee’s pays employee portion.
  • County contributes the employer portion.

SICK LEAVE

SIck leave is accrued at the rate of four (4) hours of sick leave for each completed biweekly pay period of compensated service. The maximum accumulation of sick leave shall not exceed one thousand seven hundred forty (1,740) hours on the last day of each contract year.

MILITARY LEAVE

Active duty military can receive paid working days for their military obligations upon approval.

OTHER LEAVE

Deputies may receive other leave such as compensatory leave, wellness days off, court leave, maternity/paternity leave, and bereavement leave when approved circumstances exist.

EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY

After an employee completes their 2 year probationary period, if they have an Associate Degree (or equivalent), they will receive 12% incentive; if they have a Bachelor’s Degree, they will receive 18% incentive; if they have a Master’s Degree, they will receive 22% incentive. These percentages shall be on base salary only.

SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL PAY

Personnel working between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays shall be compensated at the rate of one dollar ($1.00) per hour.

UNIFORM ALLOWANCE

The annual Sheriff's employee uniform allowance shall be seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) paid to Sheriff's employees in two semi-annual three hundred seventy-five dollar ($375.00) payments.

TRAINING OFFICER PAY

Personnel shall receive .2 hours of compensatory time for each one (1) hour period served as a Field Training Officer, Jail Training Officer or Bailiff Training Officer, Airport Training Officer, or Booking Training Officer.

LONGEVITY PAY

personnel will receive increased pay for the amount of time they have worked at the DCSO.
